We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established regional main contractor based in St Albans, who are looking to add an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to their growing commercial team.

With a strong reputation across the commercial, industrial, and educational sectors, this contractor delivers high-quality projects throughout the region, typically ranging from £500k to £5m in value.

Role Overview:

You will assist the project QS/Commercial Manager with the management of costs relating to building projects. This includes procurement, subcontractor management, valuations, variations, and final accounts, as well as supporting day-to-day commercial administration.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting with the preparation of tender and contract documents
Monitoring project costs and progress against budgets
Supporting procurement and commercial negotiations with subcontractors
Preparing and submitting interim valuations and final accounts
Maintaining accurate records and assisting in the preparation of reports
Working closely with site and project teams to ensure cost control and best value

Requirements:

Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying or related field
1-3 years’ experience with a main contractor preferred
Strong numeracy and analytical skills
Good communication and interpersonal abilities
A proactive and organised approach to work
Full UK driving licence
